Dr. Bobby Koser, DC, chiropractic physician HealthSpine Chiropractic · 10330 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Ste 205, Tampa, FL 33618 (Carrollwood)
There’s a business model in our profession you should know about before you book with anyone.
It works like this: a very low advertised price gets you in the door. X-rays are taken. Then, at a second visit, the findings are presented alongside a long-term corrective treatment plan, often dozens of visits, and you’re asked to commit to thousands of dollars, sometimes financed, before care really begins.
We’re not going to tell you where that happens or that everyone who uses long care plans is wrong. Some patients genuinely need extended care. But we built HealthSpine on a different model, and we’d rather show you the difference than claim it:
How the two models compare
| Stage of care | How we work | The prepaid care-plan model |
|---|---|---|
| Before you book | Our prices are published in plain text on this website, and each one is the same number in the booking system | The intro offer is published; the real costs come later |
| Your initial visit | Examination first, what the exam showed explained at that visit in plain language, treatment the same day when clinically appropriate | Low-cost exam and X-rays; results held for a separate “report of findings” appointment |
| The cost conversation | Ask what a plan of care will cost and you get that in writing before you decide | A multi-month package quote, often thousands of dollars, presented at the report of findings |
| How you pay | Pay as you go, or an optional membership on the terms in the membership agreement. Optional extras are on the terms in the membership agreement | A large prepaid commitment, often financed, presented as what you have to do |
| If you want to stop | The cancellation terms are in the membership agreement | A refund conversation about visits you already paid for |
| Imaging | Ordered when your exam clinically indicates it, and we explain why | Often routine for every new patient |
See what a visit costs. Comparing us to the walk-in membership chains instead? That is a different model from the prepaid care plan, and it has its own page: walk-in chain chiropractic, and how we're different.
How the money works, and who you see
- Every price we publish is the same number you see when you book online.
- Those prices are for patients paying for their own care, in full at the visit. Care billed to a third-party payor, including auto insurance under Florida PIP, health insurance, Medicare, or workers’ compensation, is billed on our standard fee schedule, not the prices we publish.
- If the visit you want isn’t on our pricing page, call and we’ll tell you what it costs before you book.
- Custom orthotics are made to order, so the price depends on the device. You get that price in writing, and nothing is ordered until you approve it.
- We don’t sell prepaid multi-month care packages. Memberships are optional, and membership rates apply only under a signed membership agreement.
- Your exam visit includes going over what Dr. Koser found, in plain language, including anything he still wants to see, like imaging or records from another office.
- Paying for your own care? Ask what a plan of care will cost and you get that in writing.
- You see Dr. Bobby Koser, DC, chiropractic physician, at every visit.
Do you have to keep going forever?
It is the most common thing people have heard about chiropractic care, and it is worth answering directly rather than pretending nobody thinks it.
The perception comes from a structure rather than from anyone’s intentions. Where care is sold as a package of visits agreed up front, the number of visits is decided before anyone has seen how you respond to the first few. Once that is bought, the schedule runs to the end of the package. That is what makes care feel open-ended, and it is a feature of how the care was sold, not of chiropractic itself.
Here your plan is written down, it has an end, and you are re-examined along the way to see whether it is doing what it was supposed to. If it is not working, that is information, and you should hear it. If you are done, you are done.
Three different things, kept separate
Most of what makes this confusing is that three quite different things get called the same thing. They are not the same, and you should know which one is being recommended to you.
Active care
Treatment aimed at the problem that brought you in. It has a plan, a number of visits, and a point at which we re-examine you and decide together whether to continue. This is meant to end.
Supportive care
For some long-standing conditions, periodic care is what keeps function where it is. This is a clinical recommendation made from your examination and your history, not a default, and if Dr. Koser suggests it he will tell you what it is for and how you would know it is worth continuing.
Maintenance care
Once you are well and there is nothing to treat, some people choose to keep coming because they prefer how they feel. That is a choice rather than a clinical need. It is available here and it is entirely optional. Nobody needs a membership to be seen.
Which of these applies depends on what your examination finds and what you actually want out of it. Someone managing a decades-old back problem and someone with a stiff neck from one bad week are not the same case, and the honest answer to “how long will this take?” is that it depends, and that you will be told what we think and why.
Six questions worth asking any clinic, including us
Here are our answers.
Are your prices published where I can see them before I book?
Yes. Our prices are published on the pricing page, and each one is the same number in the booking system. If the visit you want isn’t listed, call and we’ll tell you what it costs before you book. Prices shown are our time-of-service rates, available when you pay in full at the visit; care billed to a third-party payor, including auto insurance under Florida PIP, health insurance, Medicare, or workers’ compensation, is billed on our standard fee schedule, not at those rates.
Will I be asked to prepay for a package of visits?
No. We don’t sell prepaid multi-month care packages. Memberships are optional, on the terms in the membership agreement.
Can I get my expected costs in writing before I commit?
Yes. If you are paying for your own care, ask what a plan of care is expected to cost and you get that in writing before you decide. If the plan changes along the way, you hear that before the change happens, not on a bill afterward.
What happens if I want to stop care?
The cancellation terms are in the membership agreement.
Who actually treats me at each visit?
You see Dr. Bobby Koser, DC, chiropractic physician, at every visit.
Will I be treated at my initial visit, or only examined?
A complete exam, your findings explained the same day in words that make sense, and treatment the same day when clinically appropriate.
We’ll answer all six on this page, in person, or on the phone. Happily.
